Unfortunately, there is no way to completely reduce greenhouse gas overnight. There are options though that will gradually reduce emissions and as a result, lower the amount of greenhouse gas that is heating up our planet. We must be open to alternative forms of energy, solar is one kind, and be willing to sacrifice some of the established ways of doing things that we have become accustomed to. If we are willing to speak up and let our leaders know that we are concerned about these issues, then we can begin to make changes.

The first grand step in reducing greenhouse gases would be reduce the unbelievable amount of emissions our society produces. Between cars, trucks, factories, and various other forms of machinery we produce huge amounts of emissions on a daily basis. Automobiles account for a large percentage of total produced emissions and this is why there has been a recent push for cleaner running cars, hybrids, and "green" cars. The problem with these is they are just a start, and for a variety of reasons, automobile manufacturers have not fully committed to producing these types of cars.

It may seem like a monumental task that we'll never be able to attain, but the effort to reduce greenhouse gas will make a difference. Even if we can't reverse the damage that has been done, we can work hard to reduce emissions now and stop the damage in its tracks. For every person who realized the importance of alternative energy sources and chooses to reduce the size of their gaseous footprint, we've taken one step closer to eliminating the greenhouse effect. It may be slow, but progress will be made. It's up to each one of us to make changes ourselves, and to educate those around us to the danger.

Using alternative forms of energy, such as solar power, will help us tremendously in efforts to reducing greenhouse gases. A significant reduction in emissions needs to be addressed at the root of the issue, and that is the amount of cars currently on the roads. We have developed cities so that it is a must to own a car. Many families own a car for each member and that car is driven every day to work, school, errands, and for other reasons. So until there is a way to reduce our dependency on automobiles for transportation, there is not likely going to be a huge change in the amount of emissions produced on a daily basis.

The movement reduce greenhouse gas has to start with each one of us. In an effort to reduce emissions, we each need to be willing to make sacrifices that will slowly reduce the amount of gas in our atmosphere. We can protest the production of gas guzzling automobiles all we want, but until we are willing to park out SUV's and find an means of transportation that pollutes less, the automaker's will continue to manufacture them. The only way to eliminate these greenhouse gas producers is to stop buying them. The auto makers make decisions according to their profit margins. We have to hit them where it hurts to force them to make a change.
